About us, our ethics and ethos

The Craftsman scheme was developed by Ian, from an idea in 1986, after receiving requests from crafters seeking public liability cover whilst attending craft shows and similar.

Our company ethics and ethos are simple. The premiums reflect the cover offered, which we feel is the widest available, and consequently enables us to offer a sustainable level of service to our many clients. We constantly strive to improve both for the benefit of our clients. The Scheme has been specifically designed for Crafts people and is simple in its approach to provide cover for when and where it is needed. No hidden nasties!

Over the past decade, Ian has been joined by his daughters, Naomi and Samantha, so Ian W Wallace Limited is now a truly family run business, based in Dorset. We treat our clients as we would like to be treated, so endeavour to offer a friendly and helpful service to all of our clients.

Our buy online facility via our website means that cover can be obtained quickly and efficiently at a time convenient, without waiting for us to be “in the office”. Clients can view their documentation anytime; anywhere that they have access / connection to the internet. We deal with the day to day administration, assist with general queries, and provide assistance, which automatically includes the option to speak or contact us individually.

Please note we do not give advice to Clients. We will happily provide information on the Craft Insurance Scheme to enable our clients to make an informed decision as to whether it meets their own demands and needs.

Should you be unfortunate, and need to make a claim, we think it important that you should be able to speak to the Insurer directly. In this way, the “stress” is taken out of an already stressful situation. Any claims are speedily handled by Hiscox Underwriting Ltd.
